About us

Georgian Dyslexia Research Center is the first independent research and educational center in Georgia, dedicated to the early detection of dyslexia, effective teaching, psychosocial support, and awareness-raising.

Our mission

Our mission is to promote the full education and social integration of children, adolescents, and adults with dyslexia in Georgia.

 

Our goal is to create a national model of evidence-based learning and intervention that encompasses both academic, emotional, and social development aspects for both dyslexia and other specific types of learning disorders.

Our vision

Our vision is to create a coordinated network of professionals that is based on interdisciplinary collaboration in the early detection and management of dyslexia - with the joint work of teachers, psychologists, speech therapists, special educators, neuropsychologists and other specialists.

What does the activities of the GDRC include?

Conducting the latest international and local research on the topic of dyslexia

Development of early screening and assessment tools

Providing information and resources to parents and the general public

Implementing evidence-based teaching methods in the Georgian education system, both for dyslexia and specific learning disabilities For other faces too

Training for teachers, special teachers, psychologists, and other specialists in the recognition and management of dyslexia

Awareness campaigns that promote the education of people with dyslexia and full participation in public life

Who founded the GDRC

The center was founded by Dr. Maia Shashviashvili, who is a pioneer in dyslexia research in Georgia. He authored the first Georgian tool for assessing reading difficulty (for children aged 6–11), which represents an important step in the early detection and intervention of dyslexia.

International Vision and Cooperation

The Georgian Dyslexia Research Center - "Reading School" is a member of the European Dyslexia Association. The European Dyslexia Association (EDA) is the largest dyslexia organization in Europe. It was founded in 1987 and brings together national associations and research centers working in the field of dyslexia from different countries.

EDA's mission is to promote the early detection of dyslexia, effective education, equal opportunities and the protection of the rights of people with dyslexia in Europe. Our center shares European values and aims to deepen international cooperation.

Our cooperation aims to strengthen the topic of dyslexia in the Georgian educational system, improve the early detection system, and improve the qualifications of professionals.
